My wife got this with a little bonus money she came across (yea savings bonds!) This is her first “real” processor and she is in slicing dicing heaven! She has made everything from Coleslaw to Hummus in it. So far it works like the nuts. The lid is a bit difficult to get on and off (a little cooking oil on the rubber ring will solve that problem) and we find we often try to overload the feed tube so that the safety lockout won’t engage. It is big and takes up counter space but it get used plenty enough to justify it. There are a ton of cool recipes (yummy food processor cheesecake- TO DIE FOR!!) and even mundane tasks (like slicing tomatoes for a sandwich) are quick and easy. Cleanup is a breeze (usually just a quick wipe with a soapy sponge and a rinse) and the blade storage case is practical. All in all we are very impressed. Let’s just hope KitchenAid carries thru and makes the accessories they promise in the manual.

I bought this as a surprise for my wife. She loves to cook and had wanted a food processor for making things like pesto, bisque and organic baby food. The KitchenAid KFP720OB got really good reviews on both Amazon and Consumer Reports and we have owned other Kitchen Aid products before and they have always been well built. This food processor is no different! It does everything my wife needed it to and she loves it. As a plus, the added smaller 3-cup bowl included made it much more convenient to make smaller quantities of things than always having to dirty the big bowl. (There is a same model that does not include the mini bowl, so if you want that, make sure you buy the right one.)

Clean up isn’t too bad. The bowl and blade are dishwasher safe, but we typically hand wash them. We have had it for about 6 months now and so far it has met all of my wife’s needs.

The only negative is it doesn’t really seem to hold a full 7 cups. That being said, though, I would definitely recommend it. It has been perfect for all the day to day needs of a food processor.

I really love this machine. Without all the hype (and price) of the better known processors, this 600 watt marvel does it all. It shreds and grates cheese both hard and semi soft exactly the way I like to use/serve them. The Pecorino Romano is grated perfectly for pasta topping or infusion and mozzarella is easily shredded into pieces that melt and bubble quickly. It whips cream into voluminous peaks, egg whites the same, chops meat and vegetables and has replaced my mandolin for all my slicing needs. I had to order the thick slicer blade and the French fry cutter separately, but it came with every other attachment including a citrus juicer which extracts like a charm. I keep it on a metal kitchen rack because I have no counter space. It sets up and comes down easily. I had a Cuisinart processor a few years ago and for a lot of reasons, hardly ever used it. I have done without one since but am so very glad I purchased this. I really enjoy its ease, capabilities and huge power.

So I did much research before purchasing this product. I read tons of reviews, went to the store to look at it up close and personal. I have to say, I have had it only a month or so, but it is everything I could have wanted in a food processor. It is easy to clean, the blades are sharp (careful!), the speed is perfect, and the attachments/slicer blades work well too. Here are some helpful tips that others (reviewers) complained about:

1. Please have some COMMON SENSE, meaning: this is a food processor not a blender. Do not use this to make soup. Buy a blender or hand blender for that. If there is too much liquid in the bowl it will spill out onto your counter.

2. People complained about getting the mini bowl out of the large bowl, easy: use a spoon or knife and put it between the 2 at the top and it will pop right out.

3. Yes it can get messy. but that’s what cooking is all about (well not all about….)don’t over stuff it. its not perfect, no machine is.

I cook everyday- from scratch. This machine is amazing. I couldn’t cook without it. There is nothing it can’t do (except for soup!).

I avoided food processors in the past because the food chute was always too small, the motor wasn’t up to the job, and they were a pain to clean. My fiancé bought me this food processor as a Christmas present. I’m pleased to say that we’re both impressed by its appearance, thoughtful design, and performance.

The brushed stainless finish is attractive and easy to wipe clean. The handle-in-front work bowl design is accessible to me (right-handed) and him (left-handed) equally. The machine doesn’t take up a huge amount of counter space, and sits securely without “walking” or shimmying even when processing heavy foods.

The work bowl has a HUGE opening that greatly reduces pre-prep knife time. However, you are not stuck using the big opening all the time. The pusher has a smaller round “sub-pusher” in it that provides a smaller opening for holding long vegetables upright or for adding liquids while in motion. The lid is secure but can be removed and replaced easily. Everything fits stably and securely on the motor base. Work bowl, lid, and pusher work together to make sure you are not exposed to sharp edges or flying food (so long as you don’t stick your hand down the pusher opening). At 9 cups, the work bowl is the perfect size (7 cups is just barely too small for good processing, I’ve found).

The first thing I made with the processor was a turkey salad with leftovers from Christmas dinner. Big chunks of onion, celery, and green pepper chopped evenly in a few pulses using the S blade. Big chunks of cooked turkey chopped evenly and smoothly without pureeing. The included spatula got all the food out of the work bowl quickly without making a mess. I made homemade mayonnaise (successful my first time ever with homemade mayo) according to the recipe in the documentation, and threw in some herbs to mince while it was processing. I sliced a cucumber with the slicing disk and was startled how quickly it went through.

The handle lines up on the center of the base and the bowl will no longer continue to turn once it is locked into place. Again, same as the lid, the bowl only locks on from one direction. The handle is the key for the locking mechanism for the lid-to-bowl and the bowl-to-base in KitchenAid 12 Cup Food Processor. Once the bowl is in place on the base and the lid is locked down to the bowl, there is a locking pin in the handle that engages and the bowl cannot be removed. Unlocking the lid will release the locking mechanism of the bowl from the base. There is a liquid level indicator mark on the bowl which you should heed in order to avoid that liquid leak from the seam of the lid. When cleaning the bowl, water sometimes has a tendency to get into the handle

After comparing the various food processors in store and online from the reviews my decision was very simple: I went with the KitchenAid over the Cuisinart. After having used it several times I am very happy with my purchase, KitchenAid 12 Cup Food Processor blue. First made a marinara and used the shredder for the carrots and that went so fast and smooth I was in disbelief. Then I reassembled it with the main blade and threw in the tomatoes, onion and garlic and everything was minced down to almost a puree status almost immediately with very little sound. A dead bang winner in my book.

Then I made fresh butter. Threw in the heavy cream and turned it on and within a few minutes the butter had separated from the liquid (or buttermilk). I was floored at how easy and fast everything went.

The unit itself is a decent weight and feels very sturdy, which tells me that it is a well made unit. The bowl and blades cleaned easily between my different projects, which is a bonus, especially since each on their own presents their own difficulties in cleaning in any situation. The extra pieces storage case is a nice addition and will help keep me organized.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this food processor. I also own their mixer and have not had a problem in the nearly 6 years that I have owned it, so I don’t picture anything happening with this unit. A definite recommend.

I did a lot of research before purchasing the Cuisinart Elite food processor, and read all of the Amazon reviews many times over, in addition to reviews all over the internet. I also spoke with the customer service folks at Cuisinart, who were very helpful. I considered this a good sign. One of the complaints I read about was that dough will get caught up inside the dough blade, and the customer service rep readily told me this is their most common complaint with this unit. This was a major concern to me. This unit has the most powerful motor, with the longest warranty, so that was the big draw for me. Also, with other units, by the time I purchased extra blades and discs, and a storage case, the cost quickly rose way above the price on this one. I loved the idea of the extra bowls, but wasn’t sure it was enough of a reason to purchase the unit. I bake a lot of bread, and make other doughs frequently, so I needed to know this unit would do the job, and hold up. The rep assured me it would, so I decided the blade cleaning was a minor point.

The blades are still sharp, there is very minimal rusting on them, even though I use it at least once a week. It grinds nuts with no problem, making them into a paste if there is a need. It also cuts tomatoes without making them into mush. The size is perfect for 1-3 people. It is also rather compact, fitting into my tiny kitchen perfectly. Makes salads in a jiffy, cuts down cooking time significantly. Most customers would definitely recommend this food processor for the buyer.

Before I comment on other features of the food processor, I should mention that I bought this Cuisinart DLC-10S Pro Classic 7-Cup Food Processor used/second-hand. By manufacture date, it is 13 years old and still works as good as when it first came off the presses. I have no doubt that it will last another 13 years – Cuisinart just makes good food processors – period. The DLC-10S, from what I understand, was introduced around 1992, and Cuisinart still makes it in 2009, which says something. I would never recommend another brand based on my experience with 4 different Cuisinart processors (none of the 4 have died, by the way).
